Soft.

Fubaka responds:

Yeah, this is my favorite of the ones I've done so far. thanks for stopping by to comment!

Okay, I feel need to advice you to turn down the volume a bit
The compressor mangles it and what gets through clips

Don't have msn (or something compatible) by any chance?

Fubaka responds:

I usually don't bother to improve the quality of these songs before I post them. I will make more of an effort to do so in the future though. This one will stay as it is, however.

Comment

Not sure if it's meant to clip like that, but would probably prefer a version without it

Fubaka responds:

Response!

Yeah, this song didn't come out at the best quality, but I think the slight distortion adds to the feel of many of my songs. I'm sure that many people will disagree with me on that, though.

Nice ^^

But lesson number one: This is Chillout, which is not Ambient. It's a very big difference.

Overall, the compositions are quite good, and the sounds too. The equalization on the main pad is really nice work. ^^
Though and though, everything sounds 1) far too dry and 2) not deep enough. Goddamn, it almost sounds samplish.

What software do you use?

Karco responds:

Aah... see, I'm not too good with genres. :P

Gah... you hit the nail on the head. Most of these pads are, believe it or not, samples. XD I'm trying to use VSTs more often these days. And... currently, I use FL Studio 6.

Thanks for the review and the criticism, though... and I'm glad you like it. :)

Good one dewd

Remember me? Lol. Well.

Misplacement again - techno is... A well.
I would've placed it in industrial.

Enjoyed this one!
Power as you said.

LaymanLove responds:

Yea, I remember you big dawg! What's happnin? I'm not even sure what the difference is between techno and industrial. Oh well. Thanks for the review.

Rather wierd

Smooth sound effects though.
Very Illbient.

What's with "Emo enough for you?" in the description.

The mastering could have been better, this track is very hard on your ears...

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks for the input. Sorry it was so wierd and hurt your ears so much.

The Emo reference is a joke, meaning that the song is kind of (Emo)tional...it's a joke, a lighthearted attempt at comedy...

Pretty Good

But you won't get away without some of my "music theory bitching".
Genre bitching.
Don't take it as any offense or anything (read the text with a friendly voice), but I'm pretty fed up with people who submit non-techno tracks into the techno section. If people submitted techno only into the techno section, there would be 500 tracks maximum.
You guessed it, this is not techno... It's more like a mix of jungle (which goes to the drums and bass section) and ambient trance (which DOES go to the ambient section).
This portal needs more genres, and genres that gives every track a home.
And genre moderation.

But the track dammit, I'm acting like I'm starting a damn forum thread.
The composing and arranging conquers 70% of the AP people.
The mixing and mastering put you over 80% of them.

The sound production and synth programming vastly n00bifies 98% of the AP producers...

Also, more automations n' shit than in certain of my tracks.

Tell me... Tell my what you use to create these. You might've said it before, but my memory is pretty fucked.

(Techno is music based on drums, inharmonic, smooth, repetive and very percussive (Trance nor jungle is a subgenre of techno (don't do it again (excuse me (it's still good (:D (Very good)))))))

Tome ^^

I love the beepy, arpy effect the last 2/4 before the bass chord pad comes in.

LaymanLove responds:

haha! I freakin love your reviews. I guess you're right, it ain't techno, but it isn't really ambient either. And there is definitely no arguing that there is a serious lack of genres to pick from. Take my newest song Mesmerized. You think I WANTED to throw that in Misc? Pshhhhhh. Oh well. Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed it.

Oh ya, for this track (and most of mine) I used a Korg Triton for the 'tekno organ bass' synth and all the drum tracks. Reason 3.0 (namely the malstrom synthesizer) for most of the leads and other synths, and I use Cubase SX to mix, master, edit, and automate. Whew...

You're good too!

Well after recieving your fine reviews, i can only think of writing back. Excuse the numbers below, but a 10 from me is as rare as fatass rain in central sahara. Even 7s are very uncommon. So don't worry. You know, I'm a really serious prick with a sense of voting with my brain and not only sensibly.
Seriously, I'm not a boring 0-voter fucktard, but neither am I a 5-voter. Unless... I find pieces like this...

A nice little piece of Ambient Techno/Ambient Trance is it? Very smooth layers and very good drum sounds. Also like the synth bells. A lot.

Fuck the underrating! 5/5. Justice to be set!

- Tome

LaymanLove responds:

Dude, your direct style and honesty are as welcome as fatass rain central sahara. Thx for the review. Glad you liked it.

Average

1. Detuned saw leads are overused and should be extincted. They're to simple, to n00bish, and sounds like shit.
2. The ride is to loud. A 1/16 closed hat with stereo shifting would be much better.
3. The square bass sounds offtone. Which is bad.
4. The deep noise fx makes the compression crap out.
5. The unisoned saw in the beginning sounds far too detuned.
6. Good snare and bass drum though ^^ (if they're analog). Drum composition good in general (except for the ride and missing sixteener).
7. I expectected more effort on the pads.

That's my critique. I hope you find it helpful. ^^

PERVOK responds:

Thats not really critique. Thats you trying to tear my technique to shreds.

Bleh...

Some notes are placed extremely wrong. Excuses but this sounds shitty. And so samplish... If you're to make trance or ambient you gotta learn how to operate analog synthesizers...

I would add it to the miscellaneous...
I wouldn't add it at all.

Work harder.

MTS069 responds:

thank you for your review you SHIT HEAD. I TRIED MY FUCKING HARDEST, IM NEW AT THIS SHIT. overall rating 2? WHY 2. ASS HOLE!
